INSTANT SUCCESS

success kansas city

I have been patient with the millennials long enough, enough is enough. When it comes to building ANYTHING, it takes patience and a long and steady effort. Millennials have a toxic and deceptive outlook on how success really unfolds, and in a world of instant food, fast cooking microwaves and instant gratification of likes and social influence by way of posts on social media; the millennials are in trouble if they believe that success in business, or in creating wealth is instant or without pain against patience.

Success takes patience, and along that path is pain. I wish there was a way around it, but it is what it is. Nothing is built in a day, as the old saying goes “Rome wasn’t built in a day” goes, it speaks to the truth, and a “new way” to success hasn’t been invented. The old sayings about success are just as true today as they were back then.

I have seen way too many millennials state “I am going to become a millionaire by the age of 30”. Just after I think about kicking the kid in the shins to get him to wake up, I think about talking to him to help him understand WHERE they are going wrong in their thinking, but then again, where would I even start?????

At some point, the one speaking to an idiot about things that are common sense (or at least should be) becomes the idiot himself.

Building a solid business takes patience, it takes fortitude, it takes the highs and lows to get you there, which comes with a dose of pain along the path. Most business owners who want to sell their business fully know the pain it took them to build that business. If you asked the business owner to look back and describe where they could have created a short cut, they almost always have a hard time doing so, as they had to figure out their path as it unfolded, nothing about it was instant to get where they got.

Selling a business comes with a wonderful payday for the seller in the end, and for good reason. The time and patience it took to build that business is worth it in the end. If success was as easy as “add a packet to 8 ounces of water”, then ANYONE could do it.

The self-employed know the journey, and the millennials appear to have a longer learning curve to rise to the occasion if they want to be self-employed.
